You have reached the website of the NikOS operating system. NikOS is a custom installation script for Arch masquerading as an operating system. It started off as a pun, but now it actually made it to at least two computers! Note: Shortly after NikOS was released, Arch made their own python installer (coincidence? I think not! :P). Therefore, NikOS is now somewhat obsolete.

Purpose

Despite its pun-y nature, NikOS makes an effort to be useful. The installation script provided in NikOS produces a full working system without the usual manual tinkering required in an Arch installation (at the cost of some reduced flexibility). The NikOS installer does the following:

Customizing NikOS

The NikOS installer does not prompt much and tries to automate things as much as possible by making many assumptions. The goal is to produce a working system which is easy to customize post-installation if needed. It is also possible to customize the installation itself by editing the NikOS installer which is just a short (250~ lines) python script. This can be done during installation.

Alternatively, you can create your own NikOS images using arch-iso and the NikOS profile found here. You could even give it you own catchy name. I suggest MariOS, PambOS, KotsiOS or similar.

Copy it to a USB stick by running `cp nikos-[...].iso /dev/sdX` (use lsblk to find your device name). On windows use rufus. NikOS will uninstall windows for you (this is a good thing).
